Sunday, June 24, 2007 back to school i cant decide if going back to school is a good thing or a bad thing. for one thing, it means the holidays are over. on the other hand, the holidays [replace with holiday homework] are OVER. well then. i still havent finished my amath holiday homework. and theres gonna be lots of hw plus projects this term, along with the impending doom of music o levels. not to mention the endyear exams. i guess its really time to buck up. but im feeling just so lazy. someone slap me. [edited in 5 seconds after publishing] watched oceans 13 and fantastic 4 this week. nice numbers. anyway the shows were nice and definitely not a disappointment. although i must say oceans 13 is kinda hard to understand. but still its interesting and all that stuff. so anyways i watched it on wednesday night with russ and jonas, and we went to eat carl's jr b4 that. and i was the only one eating a burger, with the rest eating fries. making me feel fat. fantastic 4 was on friday morning with my family, and after that we went to eat nice food. and now i shall go sleep, so i dun die tomorrow morning during fall in. yay. Tuesday, June 05, 2007 back. from interestingness. back. from mission trip. and bangkok. and 3 days of fever. how fun. i shall write everything that we did here, at least most of it, before i forget. so anyway on the first day, we left singapore at around 8.45 on a nice little sq flight. on which i only managed to finish 5 chapter thingys of super mario brothers. thats around 20 levels. which all looked kinda the same, except for the boss levels. which were the same as the other boss levels. anyway, when we got to bangkok airport, we pushed like 30 plus boxes of toys and medication and hygiene packs down to the vans. thats 20 people with 20 trolleys. so we got to the vans and got ready for a long ride to sangkhlabori. with nice music. so anyways we only got to sangkhlabori in the evening, even though we reached bangkok at like 11.00am. and when we got there, we checked in to the hotel. or resort. or whatever you want to call it. i was bunking with my bro and nicholas ng, so it was quite fun. at least until i fell sick, but thats not the point. so we went for our first dinner in thailand. and it wasnt that nice, cos most of the food is SPICY. and SPICY is BAD. so i ate mostly rice, cashew chicken, and oil-soaked egg. which would turn out to be my diet for most of the next 3 days. 2nd day. woke up at around 7, went for breakfast. which consisted of 2 measley tiny sausages, a slice of ham, and egg. and of course, 2 slices of toast. then we went to our first village: Elephant Village. it was quite sad to see the people there, cos everything is so muddy and stuff. and the place where we set up for the doctors and dentists was a bamboo hut thingy, which had just been built a few days before. -wrote till here on the 5th. then i went to sleep. bwahh.- -continued on the 7th- looking back, this first village was actually the worse off, i think. and yet we didnt have enough of the hygiene packs to give to all of them since we only packed some to bring to this specific village. i think that was the really sad part, and we ended up with extras in the end. having run out of free stuff, we hopped back on the trucks and left for the next village: japanese well. this village had a school which the ppl helped to set up the last time, so we set up our stuff there, under shelter. which was good since it rained. but because there were so many people there, it started getting stuffy and everything, but i guess its just something u have to get used to. after all, we were there to help these people, and who am i to complain that its uncomfortable. so when it was all over, we prayed for the place and then enjoyed the ride back. i must say, riding on a truck is rather fun. especially when it splashes through puddles. on the 3rd day, we only visited one village. but this village was quite cool, and had this meeting centre thingy. its a concrete building, with an actual stage. and not to mention and nice big oil tanker in the middle of it, just waiting to be exploded. wait did i say exploded? i meant driven away and used to power electrical devices. totally. so anyway we did our normal stuff in the morning, with making balloons, singing, giving medicine, giving hygiene packs, giving toys. then we went for lunch, which was supposed to be army rations but in the end was normal food (booooooooo) and came back to the place. and heres the fun part. we were teaching the kids there how to do actions to some of the songs we sang, and they were actually happily doing it. its at times like this when u feel that its worth it. the 4th day. the last village. this time we were based in some hut thingy with a straw roof, and the people came to see the doctors and dentist. in the mean time, uncle perry was showing his skills at handling children, even when theres a gigantic language barrier. we ended up playing captains ball with them, and some of them are really good. so good that the others ended up standing around doing nothing. in the end, we had to stop one of the teams from totally owning everyone, so me and uncle perry stood in front of their catcher, who happened to be nicholas, and just blocked everything. at least until he started strangling us. so anyways, we had fun, and later i had to play guitar while we were singing cos the cd player died. which was a nice change from the past 2 days. and after we left the village, i fell sick. just nice, on the end of the actual mission trip. so i was sick during the bus ride back to bangkok, but couldnt sleep cos we were watching the bee gees' concert, and that nicholas cage movie, NEXT. so in the end i went to the other bus where rebecca was watching spiderman 3, without sound cos we couldnt switch the language from thai to english. so i slept there and my fever went down a little, only to come up later that night again. but only after our nice dinner at the italian restaurant in bangkok. i kinda missed all the activities in bangkok, cos i was stuck in my room the whole time. then i had to go to some hospital to do a blood test, and the doctor wanted to hospitalise me and stuff. but luckily uncle junior told them he was a doctor and that we were leaving soon, so she said ok, since he has doctors to take care of him, we dont need to hospitalise him. phew. so after lying around in the hotel room from friday night till monday morning, we left thailand on monday in the afternoon. finally, back to singapore. not that the hotel wasnt nice, just that its hard to enjoy stuff when ur sick. especially if u wake up at 12.30am to vomit on the bed. rawr. now that im back, hopefully ill be better by next week. or ill never finish my homework. which is just too bad for school aint it. speaking of which, in thailand i dreamt of school and prefects. when i come back, i dream of school and prefects. and the only smses i get while im away, are about prefect stuff. the first phone call i get at home is about prefects. how funz. my brain is churning out rather incoherent stuff at this moment, so ill probably post again when im feeling better. maybe its cos of the blood tests. or the medicine. or maybe its just me. till next time.
